The Forest Reserve is a large enclave of Chobe national park which is designated for human habitation, with communities permitted to run livestock here. There are nevertheless good wildlife populations and some reasonable safari camps.
The best known accommodation in the area is Muchenje Lodge, which is on the main overland route between Kasane and Savuti, but does nevertheless offer a reasonable mid price alternative.
To the southwest the marshlands and riverine forests along the Kwando are more removed from overland traffic and villages, so providing a much higher quality safari area, of sufficient standard to warrant inclusion in a high end flying safari. Of the three camps, Saile Tented is the higher specification.
