This park has to be one of the least understood and most under-utilised safari areas in Southern Africa. On the face of it the Central Kalahari is a whole lot of emptiness ... people drive in, take a quick look around, get bored and leave. In actual fact this place has the capability to deliver a very good safari experience.
During the 'wet' season (Nov/Apr) game from the
Okavango and other areas migrates into the Kalahari, disappearing into the folds of the fossilised dune ridges, chasing rain showers and fresh grazing.
Here you can see virtually nothing for hours and then cross a ridge and enter a Garden of Eden. It is a chancy business, but the rewards can be high.
