Kiwayu Island

The stunningly remote and beautiful Kiwayu is the furthest north of the islands in the north coast area.

Around 10km long and on average only about 500m wide the island is essentially a sand spit with mangrove swamps and a small village on the landward lagoon, a broad sandy beach and some modest reefs on the ocean side.

This is a fabulous spot, one of the most alluring locations on the whole of the East African coast.

There are two excellent but very expensive lodges here, Kiwayu Lodge being the slightly larger and slicker, Munira Island Camp the smaller and more quirky.
