Marich Pass is the name of the dramatic defile down which one descends when heading north by road up into the northwestern corner of Kenya.

Most of the journey from Eldoret in the south up to Marich passes through fertile high altitude farmland. Only over the last 30km does the land become more wild as it passes through the Cherangani Hills and down the dramatic escarpment. Down below the land is largely arid, except for the green ribbon of the Turkwel river winding its way northwards, past the remote and inaccessible South Turkana national reserve and on towards Lake Turkana itself.

The only place to stay in the area is the Marich Pass Centre, on which information is rather sketchy.
