Amboseli Lodge is located in the heart of the Amboseli reserve in southeast Kenya.
This huge facility has 109 rooms, 36 of which are in bungalows, the remainder in large blocks. Aimed very much at the budget end of the safari market.
The major downside here is the density of safari traffic in this area, with several lodges outside the reserve and four huge lodges on the inside spilling literally hundreds of vehicles across a relatively small area of very flat and open terrain. Not a pretty sight in high season. That said, the lodge was closed when we last visited in July 2008.
