Bogoria is a shallow soda lake to the north of the better known Rift Valley lakes of Naivasha and Nakuru. Backed by the green flanks of the Siracho Escarpment the lake's barren shores make for a dramatic scene, whilst the small reserve that surrounds the lake is a really quiet backwater with some excellent birding in particular.
Like its near neighbour
Lake Baringo, this is a much less visited place, often with only a handful of vehicles each day even in high season, which in our mind makes it a much more attractive option than the horribly busy lakes to the south.
The lack of decent accommodation means that we most often trip here from one of the better lodges at Lake Baringo such as
Samatian Island or
Roberts Camp.
