Mara Confluence

This is the portion of the reserve which lies to the east bank of the Mara river, either side of the confluence with the Talek river.

Confluence is a classic area of sweeping grasslands, with considerable stands of forest along the rivers and seasonal luggas. It is probably the best area for migration river crossings late July to end September. Unfortunately this lovely area suffers considerable traffic, largely derived from lodges further afield, which send fleets vehicles this way on day-trips, mainly chasing after river crossings.

The best way to see the area is to stay in one of the better small camps such as Rekero, Nkorombo or Sala's, which know how best to work the area and largely have the place to themselves early morning and late afternoon.
