This is the portion of the reserve which lies to the east bank of the Mara river, to the northern end of the reserve.
Governors features sweeping grasslands, riverine forest and wetlands. Home to the BBC's Big Cat Diary, many visitors arrive already familiar with place and its famous cats. Although the area does attract significant incoming traffic from lodges further afield, the four Governors camps do hold a pretty effective monopoly on this productive patch.
However these are not small high end camps, between them they can put out some seventy vehicles in high season and although pleasant enough, they all surf on their reputation to some extent.
Private Camp is by far the best option for larger groups, whilst
Little Governors is best for smaller parties.
