This area lies along the Mara river to the north of the main reserve.
Mara North contains a rather uncomfortable mix of lodges, from large mass-market facilities to cool small camps. For how long the latter can continue to offer sufficient quality here is questionable. Furthermore the area is not generally well organised into conservancies, which means that Maasai landowners are free to do what they please with their plots and the present invasion of domestic animals may only be the precurser to a whole wave of even more undesirable settlement and development.
Serian and Richard's camps stand out as being the real quality operations here, with Kicheche Mara and Karen Blixen camps providing reasonable mid priced alternatives.
