Mara Sekenani

This area is centred on Sekenani Gate, which is the main point of access into the Maasai Mara for road traffic from Nairobi.

The landscape is largely hilly to the east, opening out into more classic open grasslands to the west.

This is the most busy and therefore least attractive part of the Mara, with lots of big lodges spilling fleets of minibuses out into the Sekenani area and beyond into the Keekorok, Talek and even as far as the Confluence areas.

Even the slightly higher quality lodges and camps to the north of the reserve are largely dependent on access through this busy Sekenani Gate area.
