Triangle is the portion of the reserve which lies to the west of the Mara river. It falls under a different council control and has a different park fee from the other side of the river.
Additionally, with their only being river crossings in the extreme north and south, this area effectively functions as a separate park. It is one of the very best areas for river crossings, especially mid June to mid August.
Our favourite accommodation is the seasonal mobile camp
Maji ya Ngede.
The only permanent lodge is the very large and commercial
Mara Serena. All the other lodges, including
Kichwa Tembo,
Bateleur,
Olonana and
Kilima have the disadvantage of being located outside the north gate and having to safari south from there.
