Nakuru is the second major Rift Valley lake that one encounters when driving out from
Nairobi.
The lake is surrounded by a small but beautiful park, famed for flamingo and rhino in particular, although the latter are more dependable these days.
The downsides are that the park is adjacent to the major urban area of Nakuru Town and that it is a favourite haunt of minibus safaris.
If like us your idea of safari is inherently wilderness oriented, then you will probably choose to skip Nakuru. If you are less fussy then
Mbweha Camp undoubtedly offers the best chance of a decent quality experience.
Deloraine is something completely different.
