Windhoek

Windhoek is a modern African capital, sitting in a broad basin, with suburbs extending outwards over the surrounding foothills.

This is a relatively quiet, friendly, safe and organised city, with a good range of facilities and a couple of interesting historical features, but overall Windhoek lacks the kind of local colour that one can experience in other cities across the continent.

The only decent small hotel in town is the centrally located Heinitzberg Castle.

When that is full then we tend to recommend one of the better guesthouses out in the suburbs, the best of which is Olive Grove.

Villa Verdi is a reasonable lower cost option.
