Amani Lodge is located about 20km to the southwest of Windhoek, on top of a high pass on the road to Sossusvlei.
This is a reasonably pleasant little place, with stylish public areas and decent rooms ... a kind of hybrid between a guestfarm and a proper lodge.
What puts us off are the captive animals, from meercats to leopards, which although appear well enough cared for, one cannot help feeling that they are only here to pull in the punters.
A convenient first or last night on a self-drive trip if
Eningu Clayhouse is unavailable.
