The small town of Tsumkwe is located in a broad, arid expanse of Kalahari bushvelt in the remote northeast of Namibia.
Tsumkwe Lodge is the base for Arno and Estelle Oosthuysen, who have been working with the bushmen out here since the early 1990's. The lodge provides a more civilised option than the more basic satellite at
Nhoma Camp, with nice thatched rooms, private bathrooms and even a swimming pool. Pretty basic nonetheless and with an atmosphere something like that of a research camp.
When including this bushman experience into a trip we tend to run to 3 or 4 nights, typically split between the two camps.
