Sesfontein is a dusty little town, a real frontier post, where tribespeople from the wild lands beyond converge with their herds to the weekly market. The bar on market night is not for the faint-hearted.
From here the main road heads northeast to Epupa. This is self-driveable, but only really skirts the edge of Kaokaland.
The far more interesting route heads northwest into the real wild territory of the Hartmann Valley, but this is strictly for guided safari only.
Reasonably hardy self-drivers can base themselves at
Fort Sesfontein Lodge and venture further out on day-safaris with the lodge guides.
