Reputed to be the second largest in the world, Fish River Canyon is certainly breathtaking.
Inside the canyon are some atmospheric multiple day hiking trails, which we occasionally include, typically as a guided segment within a longer self-drive trip. We also occasionally include a night in the area for guests self-driving between Namibia and South Africa, although we do not usually recommend this long overland traverse.
Apart from that, Fish River Canyon and the rest of this southern area of Namibia is generally too much of a journey for too little reward and is usually one of the first elements to get dropped from a trip.
The best accommodation is to be found at Canyon Lodge and Canyon Roadhouse.
