Sossusvlei is the location of the huge red sand-dunes for which Namibia is so renowned.
The main dunes are public access, which means it can get rather busy, but somehow it does not seem to matter too much, this being more of a sightseeing excursion than a safari experience.
A fair number of decent lodges are located out in the rocky desert around the entrance to the main dunes corridor.
For flying safaris we tend to use either
Little Kulala,
Kulala Wilderness,
Sossusvlei Wilderness or
Kulala Desert.
For self-drive trips we prefer to use
Kulala Wilderness or a much cheaper roadside stop, the best of which is
Desert Homestead.
