If you are not fortunate enough to be able to visit the superb
Skeleton Coast North, then this National Park area is the best segment of coast to visit.
The park, which runs for about 250km up the coast, is relatively unspoiled compared with areas to the south and contains a reasonable number of interesting features such as wrecks, ruined diamond mines and dune fields. The area does feel genuinely wild and traffic is usually light outside of local holiday periods and the main fishing season in Jan/Feb.
The downside is that in order to visit the place properly you are obliged to stay at the magnificently awful
Terrace Bay Restcamp.
