Twyfelfontein is an area of dramatic Damaraland scenery, the best area in Namibia for rock art and desert elephant, as well as offering some superb hiking.
The area is centrally located between the
Skeleton Coast and
Etosha national parks,
Palmwag to the north,
Cape Cross,
Swakopmund and
Erongo to the south, ensuring that it gets included in virtually all self-drive trips.
We tend to include 2 to 3 nights, preferring the excellent value
Doro Nawas Camp, followed closely by the stylish
Mowani Mountain Camp.
Flying safaris occasionally drop into
Damaraland Camp, but are usually better off concentrating on the really remote areas.
