The Alphonse Group is located around 450km to the southwest of Mahe, 100km south of the
Amirantes.
The group is comprised of two atolls, Alphonse to the north and St Francois to the south, with the beautful islet of Bijoutier in between.
Alphonse island itself is a lush paradise, largely covered by palm plantation, ringed by beautiful beaches. A deep central lagoon is protected by broad flat reefs and plays host to a wealth of marine life including turtles and tiger sharks and renowned for its fly fishing.
The island is bisected by an airstrip which serves the rather ordinary
Alphonse Island Resort.
