Bird Island is located 110km to the north of Mahe in the Seychelles.
At 1.5km long, the island can be circumnavigated on foot in an hour or two. The low lying interior is covered by a mix of palm and casuarina trees, with an unusual amount of open grassland, all surrounded by beautiful white sand beaches and fringing reefs
Run very much as a conservation project, this pleasant little island is an important nesting site for many species of bird, notably the sooty term, as well as green and hawksbill turtles.
Bird Island Lodge is a very low key affair which exists only to provide funding for the island's preservation.
