Bird Island Lodge is located on a private island 110km north of Mahe in the Seychelles.
Run very much as a conservation project, this pleasant little island is an important nesting site for many species of bird, notably the sooty term, as well as green and hawksbill turtles. The lodge is much simpler and less commercial than those on other private islands, tending to attract a more down to earth and outdoorsy clientele.
Any top trip to the Seychelles should include a remote island lodge. Bird Island may not be chic, some might even say it is a bit odd, but it is also by far the lowest cost. No diving though.
