Frégate Island is located 50km to the west of Mahe in the Seychelles.
This beautiful little island, just 1.5km in diameter, is comprised of a forested granite mountain, surrounded by coconut plantations and white sand beaches.
A popular pirate haunt during the latter part of the 17th century, stories persist of treasure hidden somewhere on its 280 hectares.
Around 1950 the island was turned over to the production of vegetables, fruit, coffee, vanilla and poultry for markets on Mahé, but in recent years all traces have been removed and the island returned to its natural state.
Fregate Island Lodge is one of the top private island boltholes in the Seychelles.
