The Tides is a well established and reasonably high quality lodge in a decent beach location to the south of the mouth of the Pangani river.
The lodge is accessed either by road or air from Arusha, which takes the best part of a day, or by air from Dar es Salaam, via Zanzibar and Pemba islands.
Even though The Tides offers good value for money, the difficulty of access, combined with a lack of quality diving, leaves us rarely preferring it over the higher rated lodges on Zanzibar, or the more remote Mafia and Pemba islands.
