The Manta is located on the northwestern tip of Pemba Island off the coast of Tanzania.
Back in the late 1980's this place was a wild and wonderful little tented camp. Since then it has grown in size, but not necessarily in stature. During early 2008 new owners undertook considerable redevelopment and there is no doubt that there has been a considerable improvement.
We resumed taking bookings for The Manta early 2009 and whilst there is little doubt that Fundu Lagoon remains the best lodge on Pemba, The Manta may once again be worth a try.
