Ras Kutani is the stretch of coastline that runs south from Dar es Salaam. Considering its proximity from such a large city, the area still feels quite wild and remote.
With the hypnotic draw of nearby
Zanzibar, it can be quite difficult to lure guests over to this mainland coast instead. We therefore tend to use Ras Kutani in combination with one of the island, typically as the first stop in a beach-safari-beach trip, where the safari is usually to the nearby
Selous.
It should be noted that there is no diving in this area.
The only lodge of significant interest is the upmarket
Ras Kutani Lodge.
