Zanzibar Palace is a small boutique hotel housed in a converted merchant's house close to the front of Stonetown.
Essentially this hotel has taken some of the design ideas of other older Stonetown hotels and applied a rather higher level of conventional comforts and modern design touches.
Whilst there is little doubt that 236 Hurumzi remains the real deal here in Stonetown, the service here at Zanzibar Palace is perhaps more reliable and overall it is probably easier for less forgiving guests to get along with.
