Mtoni Marine is located in a busy suburb to the north of Stonetown, the capital of Zanzibar Island.
The lodge is in fact squeezed between a busy main road and the beach and is therefore rather less than appealing as a beach hotel, whilst its distance from the town centre makes it less than an ideal base for that as well.
When staying elsewhere in Stonetown however, we have been tempted out here on more than one occasion for an excellent evening meal on the beach.
