Lake Eyasi is a scenic lake at the base of a steep section of Rift Valley escarpment just to the south of the Ngorongoro Crater. At first glimpse Eyasi appears very similar to Lake Manyara, but in reality the absence of significant groundwater means that it is far less able to sustain serious game populations.
Few people visit the area. Those who do generally come in pursuit of the Hadza, a fast-diminishing tribe of hunter-gatherers who inhabit the the lakeside forest. We are inherently very nervous about this kind of 'meet the tribespeople' thing, although we do now include it in safaris when requested.
Of the two lodge options the considerably cheaper
Tindiga Camp tends to be our first choice.
