Crater Lodge is one of the world's most famous hotels. Architecturally an unusual blend of ethnic West Africa and lavish renaissance Europe, Crater Lodge seems pulled right out of the malarial nightmares of nineteenth century explorers.
Is it gauche or is it cool? Is this 'not what real safari should be about', or is it an absolute blast? Or can a lodge be all of these things? It is a tough call.
What we can say for sure is that it is definitely bold, unique and luxurious. It is also only affordable to a small proportion of our guests, many of the remainder head on down to
Olduvai Camp instead.
