Serena is a chain of mainly large motel type lodges across East Africa, which specialise in providing reliable accommodation for the upper end of the mainstream travel industry.
Ngorongoro is probably the strongest of the three main Serena lodges in this region, both in design and location.
Guests staying here will generally be doing a circuit of all the Serena lodges, which is not really the area of safari that we deal with on the whole. We tend to use it for guests on a more varied safari, who absolutely must stay on the crater rim but do not want to pay out for the very pricey Crater Lodge.
