If anyone ever tells you that the Serengeti is too busy these days, then they obviously have not been out to the Gol Mountains of the Southeast Serengeti.
During the green season Jan/Apr this area can heave with game, as the migration comes through. Two excellent lodges,
Sanjan Camp and
Piaya Camp, are located just outside the park boundaries. For an excellent simpler camping experience then take a look at
Gol Mountains Bivouac.
During the dry season Jun/Dec game is sparse and safari is more about landscapes, walking, occasional cheetah and wilddog sightings, spontaneous meetings with local tribespeople and the greater pleasure of being in the middle of nowhere. See
Gol Mountains Bivouac and
Olkarien Bivouac.
