Southwest Serengeti is one of the best areas for the migration during the green season Dec/May, when the herds should be spread out across the plains and in calf.

The Ndutu area in particular fills up with mobile camps during this time. Of these our favourites are Olakira Ndutu Camp and Nomad Masek Camp.

Ndutu Lodge itself offers a mid-price alternative, although getting availability can be very tough.

During the dry season the herds move off, but a reasonably level of game remains around Ndutu. At this time we sometimes include Ndutu Lodge as at this time of year it becomes a relatively quiet backwater.
