Kilimanjaro Airport is a major international hub for visitors to northern Tanzania. It is located in the middle of nowhere, out on the flat Maasai Steppe between the towns of Arusha and Moshi.

The reason it gets a particular mention here is that a few of our guests end up spending their first night here at Kia Lodge due to the late arrival of the KLM flight from Amsterdam.

Actually even for these late arrivals we generally prefer to get most guests on to one of the better lodges in Arusha, except for trekkers headed for the Rongai route on Kilimanjaro who can go direct to Marangu.
