Umbwe is a high-quality low-traffic route on Kilimanjaro, but which requires an extreme level of fitness.
Some cowboy operators offer this as a low traffic version of Machame without making the dangers clear. The problem with this route is that it is too steep to go straight up without risk of serious altitude sickness and too short to take more time over.
Apart perhaps for very dangerous speed record attempts, we are unable to dream up a circumstance under which Umbwe would be the right choice.
We do not operate climbs on this route.
