Moshi is a major town at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Although Moshi would appear to be a logical basecamp for trekkers, the town is not particularly inspiring and has a relatively poor selection of accommodation. We therefore only include nights here extremely rarely.

For the western routes on Kilimanjaro ... Shira, Lemosho and Machame ... we prefer to use one of the higher quality lodges in Arusha to the west.

For the eastern route on Kilimanjaro ... Rongai ... we use one of the hotels in Marangu village as a base.
