Mikumi is an unspectacular park, with reasonably pretty undulating landscapes and with decent resident game populations.
Unfortunately the main Dar to Mbeya road sees trucks hurtling right through the middle of the park, which kind of takes the edge off any kind of wilderness experience.
Mikumi is convenient for residents coming out of Dar es Salaam for the weekend, but is not a big enough draw in its own right to attract many international visitors.
We occasionally stop overnight here if we are doing an overland safari to Ruaha or Selous, but that in itself is a rare occurence as it is a long old road trip and most people prefer to fly.
