Sable Mountain Lodge is located in hills outside the North Gate of the Selous Game Reserve in Southern Tanzania.
This is a remote and little visited area, but it is also a long way from the core game-viewing areas along the river. The camp itself is relatively simple, a bit rough around the edges, but temptingly low cost.
Although it is possible to access central areas from here, it makes for a long day and is less than ideal. Better therefore to use Sable Mountain as a gentle starter, followed by a more pricey lodge deep inside the park such as Lake Manze Camp.
