The park bandas here are rather grim billet blocks, the verandahs of which are caged in to protect visitors from baboons and chimpanzees. Facilities are basic.
Completely self-sufficient travellers staying here need to bring everything with them from Kigoma. For the less hardy then there it is possible to buy packaged trips in Kigoma, which will provide transport, a guide-cook, food and bedding.
We no longer include Gombe in our trips, having determined that it will probably be better in the long run to concentrate resources on the hopefully more sustainable Mahale Mountains to the south.
