Nkungwe Camp is located in Mahale Mountains National Park on Lake Tanganyika in the extreme west of Tanzania.
With the fabulous Zoe's Camp just down the way in the next bay, it is tough to think of Nkungwe as anything other than 'the other camp' in Mahale.
But this place has come a long way in recent years and does now do a pretty reasonably imitation of its more illustrious neighbour. Although still pricey Nkungwe does offer a genuine lower cost solution for visitors to this fabulous park. It also has the rather fundamental advantage of not being fully booked years in advance.
