Historically Tabora was a major staging post on the caravan routes between Zanzibar and Lake Tanganyika.
These days it is of little interest to most visitors other than as a refuelling stop for light aircraft on the way to the remote airstrips at Mahale and Katavi.
Although we have not yet actually ever disembarked here ourselves, we have heard tell of an interesting little cafe at the station, all grand colonial architecture, plastic chairs and warm coke.
Other than that there seems little to draw us here in the future. Which kind of makes us want to go ... maybe next year.
