Lusaka is one of those new post-colonial capitals that was positioned by the 'pin the tail on the donkey' technique. Centred around a sixties style grand avenue of tower blocks and surrounded by shanties, the town really has very little of interest to offer.
The main reason to stay here is to catch an early departing flights, notably the British Airways to London.
Instead of dragging out to one of the better out of town lodges we tend to just cut our losses and head into the centre for the night. There is not much to choose from here, we have a soft spot for the
Taj Pamodzi Hotel for historical reasons we better not get into here.
