This northern sector only gets about 20% of the traffic experienced in central areas and, despite the number of camps, feels considerably more wild. The area is renowned for high quality, earthy safari.
Almost all camps are only open during the dry season, June to November.
The camps in this area are all to such a high standard that choosing between them can be a bit of a mission. The list to the left divides them by operator.
Looking at the basecamps, at the upper end we have Tena Tena, Nsefu and Mchenja. Tafika and its satellites offer a slightly lower cost option, whilst Kaingo offers probably the most intense game-oriented experience.
