It was with these kinds of high-minded ethical concerns whizzing around our heads that we initially decided to set up this company. We had reached a stage in our lives where we wanted to try do something exciting and to do some good. During a moment of uncharacteristic optimism, we decided to give it a go.

So it was that in early 1999, three age-old friends nervously quit their jobs in London and set about starting something new.

None of us had any previous experience of the travel or internet industries, other than the fact that we had all travelled a reasonable amount, two of us had worked in safari camps and the other had once bought a book from Amazon.
