The main highlight in Tarangire is elephant. During the dry season Jun/Dec especially, elephant mass along the river in enormous numbers and viewing is amongst the finest in Africa.

During the green season Jan/May, the park is beautiful, still has reasonable game and very low visitor numbers, making for a very accessible and high quality safari experience.

The park contains some of the best small camps in the region, of which our two favourites are Oliver's Camp and Nomad Tarangire Camp, with Swala Camp just behind those.

Our mid-price lodge choice in the area is the very pleasant Mawe Ninga Camp.
