Baines Camp is located in the Okavango delta in northern Botswana.
The Stanley's Concession is the most easterly in Okavango. It therefore usually has the latest and least reliable flood, Jul/Sep. Access to permanent water on the Boro river allows the camp to claim a full range of wet and dry safari year round.
This camp is the higher specification of the two on the concession. It is centred around a very pretty central area overlooking a lagoon.
Guests here are able to participate the the
Grey Matters project, which enables them to walk and interact closely with a number of rescued elephants.
We very rarely use Baines Camp, primarily because it really lacks a sense of remoteness, being only a five minute hopper flight out of Maun airport. The unreliability of the flood this far east is another major factor. Both of these issues can be overcome to an extent if combined with at least one camp further west, such as those in
Jao Flats.
