Sunshine Hotel is located in the village of Matemwe on the northeast coast of Zanzibar.
This small boutique hotel first opened its doors in June 2010 and, despite at firsrt appearing quite modest, has really impressed.
The sixteen rooms are contained in four blocks two storey blocks, 14 sunshine suites and 2 cheaper garden rooms. A further 2 larger and more expensive suites are situated on the beachfront.
Central areas have bar and restaurant on the ground floor, lounge on a mezzanine, all with views out over the two lovely pools and the fine white-sand beach.
Sunshine Hotel seems to add up to more than the sum of its parts. The plot feels tidy rather than small, whilst even the smaller rooms feel pleasant. But above all it is the enthusiasm and attention to detail of the owners and their staff which really makes this place work.
