Kirurumu Tented Camp is located close to Lake Manyara in northern Tanzania.
Set on a lightly wooded slope beyond the farmland atop the rift valley escarpment, this pleasant lodge has glancing views back down to the lake itself.
The lodge comprises a small reception building, simple open sided dining area, a nice bar and around twenty tented guest rooms, all widely spaced and connected by a network of rough stone paths.
As well as being a base from which to visit Lake Manyara, the lodge offers a number of other activities including guided walking, horse and camel riding.
Although we have always had a liking for Kirurumu Tented Camp, we have found ourselves using it decreasingly over the years. The main reason is that as Lake Manyara has become more of a traffic hotspot we have tended to spend less time here and instead press on a little further north in beautiful farmlands around Karatu, most notably to lodges such as Gibbs Farm.
