Ndutu Lodge is located in the southwest sector of Serengeti in northern Tanzania.
This is one of the oldest lodges in Tanzania and one of only a very few which remain truly independent.
The lodge is set out under a stand of mature acacia within sight of the main lake. It is essentially a classic tented camp which has slowly over the years evolved from canvas to stone and thatch. The large main building contains the bar and restaurant, with around thirty rooms lined up either side.
We like Ndutu Lodge a great deal, especially the staff, but we do find that during the main migration season Dec/Apr the place does become rather overrun, making the various mobile camps in the area seem all the more attractive.
Dry season Jun/Oct however the area becomes something of a backwater as the main safari traffic heads further north. At this time Ndutu Lodge becomes a lot more attractive in our opinion and, conveniently, it is also a lot lower priced.
